パラコートを飲んだ知人は、飲んだ直後に異常に気づき、救急車で病院に運ばれ胃洗浄を受けました。
運ばれたときには普通に会話もでき、胃が痛いだけだといっていたのですが、その時点で医者からは、
「致死量以上が吸収されてしまっているので、助けるのは難しい。」
といわれていました。
その日から点滴で出来る限りの水分を入れ人工透析を行っていたのですが、翌日には毒を対外に排出する腎臓自身が毒にやられて尿が出なくなり、さらに全身の細胞が破壊される激しい痛みのために麻酔で眠らせるしかなくなりました。
全力で治療を行っていても刻一刻と症状は悪化し続け、４日目に亡くなりました。
